World Book Day 2021

4th March 2021
World Book Day 2021

Even though World Book Day this year was a little different to what we are used to, we were so impressed with the effort that our families made to make the day as enjoyable as ever.

Our chosen theme for the day was: Positive Role-Models in books. Due to the inspirational work of Sir Captain Tom Moore during this pandemic, we enjoyed sharing the book 'One Hundred Steps: The Story of Sir Captain Tom Moore'. Members of staff recorded themselves reading the book to share with children in school and at home across the week.

On the day, staff and children dressed-up as a book character that they felt is a positive role-model to others and engaged in activities about their chosen character as well as Sir Captain Tom Moore.

Also, we ran a World Book Day competition. To celebrate books and share them across the community, families created displays in their windows sharing their love of reading.

It was fantastic to see so many children dressed-up in school and at home. We were also really impressed with the amazing window displays that were made to celebrate our community's love of reading. It was a tough decision but we awarded a £10 Amazon voucher to the following three winning families:

Higgins Family (Year 4)

Dawidiuk Family (Year 5 and Year 2)

Hocking Family (Year 4 and Year 2)
