Governor Roles
School Governors have legal duties, powers and responsibilities; they make decisions together and cannot act unilaterally. School Governors are parents, teachers and community representatives. They all serve for four years, after which they can be re-elected or new governors take their place.
The Governing Board meets at least once per term and reports from these meetings can be seen at the school on request.

Among other things the governors are responsible for:-
- overseeing the school to promote high standards of educational achievement;
- setting appropriate targets for pupil achievement at Key Stage 2;
- taking general responsibility for the conduct of the school;
- managing the school’s budget;
- ensuring the school curriculum is broad and balanced, the National Curriculum is taught, and reporting on National Curriculum assessments and examination results;
- determining the staff pay policy for the school;
- participating in the appointment of the head and other staff and regulating staff conduct and discipline;
- drawing up an action plan after an inspection.
