Karslake Class is our newly created Year 3 Class taught by Miss Moore with Mrs Williams on hand as the class teaching assistant. Mrs Williams is a HLTA who provides class cover for Karslake on a Friday.

There are also specialist teachers who will take the children for certain sessions:

  • Ms Trula – Spanish (Monday)

  • Mr O’Dwyer - Go Active! - P.E. (Monday)

Your child will be given opportunities to read individually during the week and will read to a member of staff during guided reading. Children will be responsible for changing and selecting their individual books when necessary. The children are also encouraged to take home a library book. It is expected that the children will read at home at least 5 times per week. Each reading ‘session’ should be for at least 10 minutes and will require an adult signature in the reading record for verification. Reading in Key Stage 2 is vital for your child’s progress; we will be continuing with Reading Karate and Accelerated Reader. Reading records are taken in on a Monday to add up the number of reads to count towards the Reading Karate bands. A child’s Reading Karate total will continue from the last academic year.

Homework has been designed to support your child’s learning and will mainly consist of:

  • Times tables
  • Spellings
  • Occasional extra tasks linked to our unit.

In addition to this the children will have a weekly spelling test on Fridays.

In Karslake we are learning about the USA, France and England as part of our geography topic 'Around the World'.

In English we will be looking at fables with the chance to write our own. In Maths we will be building on our number knowledge and looking at multiplication and division.

Science will be based on forces and magnets. This will provide plenty of opportunities for scientific exploration!

Fridays will continue to be our spelling and times tables' tests. Please practise these at home.

PE is on Mondays and Thursdays, although we ask that P.E kit is present in school each day.

We would like to remind you that PE kit consists of:

  • Black shorts or leggings
  • School PE top or plain white round necked T-shirt (no large print or design please)
  • Trainers or plimsolls
  • Socks
  • Tracksuits (for outside PE during colder weather)

Children will have swimming lessons in the summer term. Further details of this will be sent home nearer the time.

Empty! Please add a resource.
