Computing

At Nanpean School, we believe that a high-quality Computing education equips pupils to use computational thinking and creativity to understand an ever-changing world. We believe that such coverage ensures that children are responsible, competent, confident and creative users of Information and Communication Technology. Our aim is to ensure that pupils become digitally literate: able to use and express themselves and develop their ideas through Information and Communication Technology, at a level suitable for the future workplace and as active participants in an ever evolving digital world.

Computing has deep links with other subjects, most notably Mathematics, Science and Design and Technology. We therefore intend to ensure that all children can understand and apply the basic principles of Computer Science, such as abstraction, algorithms and data representation. Ensuring that children are responsible, competent, confident and creative users of IT is also vital and this builds on prior learning, while also offering aspirational career related ideas to some children. E-safety is at the heart of all we do, within the Computing Curriculum and the Personal Development of our children.
